Summer Reflections

Labor Day has come and gone and the official end of summer (September 21st) is rapidly approaching.  It has been a hot and humid summer for the most part and I’m not terribly sad to see it go.

The considerable amount of rain that we had this summer did wonders for the flowers.

Even the “weeds” were especially beautiful this year:

There were many beautiful butterflies and dragonflies….

The local corn crop was delicious:

I used my rhubarb to make a rhubarb peach oatmeal crust pie:

My pole beans are still producing lots of beans.  And although the Scarlet Runners have fuzzy exteriors, I actually think I prefer them to the Kentucky Wonders as they seem to be more flavorful and tender.  And the scarlet runners are “stringless” and the Kentucky Wonders are not.

And a little gray cat appeared at my door.

And that’s the way it was, Summer 2013.
